I toyed with ChatGBT (Chat) when it came out in 2022 but it was early 2023 before I found a real use for it. I wanted to write the SDT (Gold Token) white paper but wasn't sure how to start or structure it so I asked Chat to generate a white paper on the international politics and history of gold.

Presto! I spent about two weeks editing and extending it and then mailed it out to dozens of State representatives and senators.

This month I used Chat as a research assistant to define specifics to build the SDT platform and it was outstanding. My technical research time dropped from the usual two or three weeks to a few hours and I suspect it's more accurate work, too.

Chat is an excellent semantic parser but it has no intelligence. I tried a few other tasks that it failed. For instance, I needed a slide for a Zastava M57 pistol made in the 1970s. There was a slide available for a later M70 model and I asked Chat to list compatible parts. It couldn't do it, it simply regurgitated a website warning people to not interchange parts. I ordered the slide anyway and guess what?

The M57 works fine. Like many Democrats, Chat puts up an illusion of intelligence but can't deliver.
