Starting a series on the home security for my house in Tallahassee which has different challenges than my last house. The lot size is 22,200 sq ft versus 7,800, the house has aluminum siding and is surrounded by 50ft shade trees.

The biggest change was camera topology. In Vancouver, all cameras were mounted on my house, were shade–free and faced outward. In Tallahassee, there's three times more area so I mounted the cameras in a ring facing inward.

Vancouver had a single hub but this time I added a Deco mesh network with North and South hubs. North serves the A1, A2 and A6 cameras and South serves A3, A4 and A5. The location diagram doesn't capture the true level of video coverage, which is 90% of the property and most cameras have line-of-sight of at least one other camera.

Four cameras are mounted on west side due to shade issues and one camera (A1) is wired. The sole eastside camera (A2) has been a problem due to the shade coupled with constant motion–triggering from the highway traffic.
