In 1983, I set the worldwide high score for the Xevious arcade game after five hours of play in front of an offical judge. I started with 5 Solvalou ships and racked up 17 more so my play time was limited only by my bladder. After five hours I'd reached 4 million, easily exceeding the current high score of 1 million. I felt safe in my win.
But a few weeks later an Italian hit 7 million and then a guy in Montana maxed out at 9,999,990. Damn it! I could have tied that! I held the #3 spot for many years but Twin Galaxies eventually removed those scores. Today I discovered they'd resurrected the Xevious page and I still hold the #4 worldwide rank!
